What are cookies?

Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information which are downloaded to your computer or mobile phone when you are viewing a website. Cookies do lots of different jobs that allow us to provide you with a more personal and interactive experience on our website.

Which Cookies are used on the ICN website and why

When visiting our website cookies may be used to store information about you which we can access when you visit our site in future. We do this to improve your user experience by enabling us to ‘remember’ you, either for the duration of your visit (using a ‘session cookie’) or for repeat visits (using a ‘persistent cookie’).

The cookies used on this website have been categorised based on the categories found in the ICC UK Cookie Guide.

Category one: strictly necessary cookies

SiteID, Asp.net_SessionID, Dynamic (Asp.net_SessionID)

These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around our website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the website.  Without these cookies services you have asked for, like viewing restricted pages cannot be provided.

Category two: performance cookies (first party and third parties)

These cookies collect information about how visitors use our website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages.  These cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how our website works.

Category three: functionality cookies (first party and third parties)

First party cookies allow our website to remember choices you make (such as your user name/profile) and provide enhanced, more personal features. For instance, they are used to provide services such as commenting on our blog. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites

There are other cookies from third parties.  ICN does not control the use of these cookies and cannot access them due to the way they work, as cookies can only be accessed by the party who originally set them. You should check the third party websites for more information about these cookies.
